recumbent exercise bike video image

Lollo
Over the past 3/4 years, I have lost quite a lot of weight by eating less. However, I still have some left over fat. Should I buy an exercise bike in an attempt to lose this fat, or am I stuck with it?
I'm 16 if it matters.
Answer
I love the recumbent bike. Yeah, sure, of course stick with it! Exercise is really-really good for you. Kudos on that!
You re still growing so your body is most likely going to go through tremendous changes to come; but it is important to be aware of our bodyâs health and nutrition!
Try some alternative exercises to do in a addition to your cardio that targets the area(s) you want to work off the fat. I don't believe you will be stuck with it with proper diet and exercises. You seem to be in the right direction, keep it up! Good for you! Don't over do it though, be careful and take care of yourself.
Here's a few FYI TIPS, that I hope will be of use to you!
***WATER: WATER is VERY important! You should drink an extra 8oz, for every 20-25 pounds you want to lose on top of the regular amount you should drink daily
***To lose weight more efficiently and effectively, stop eating 2-3 hours before bedtime. This allows your body to become a fat burning machine throughout the night, instead of trying to process what you've just eaten.
That feeling in your belly (of hunger), is the body going into to fat burning mode, you want that! That is the key to the ignition so to speak!!
***COOL DOWN: Cooling down, having a cool down session after working out prevents blood pulling to occur, which cause you to be more sore. Walking around or stretching
~10-15 minutes should be sufficient! :-D
***FOR EXERCISES: Try 20-45mins (whatever you can do) of some cardio of your choice. Maybe running/jogging, dancing, bike, etc. (yes dancing can be great cardio- just throw on some favorite music and let it rip! Its fun and you control it! :-D) Or try a fun/dance workout video.
Best time to exercises is the morning, first thing, if possible!
***Make sure you have enough and proper protein in your diet! This is important!
***Look for inch loss, which is a wonderful thing. Sometimes you lose in inches and not actual weight. Take you measurements and pay attention to how your clothes fit you! That is a really good indicator that somethingâs happening!
***Strength training is also good! But, be careful and don't over do it. Too much can make you gain weight, because muscle weighs more that fat!
In my opinion, it's not so much about weight sometimes as it is shape. Try to gain lean body mass. I use the shapeworks program and I really enjoy it. It's simple, easy, delicious and nutrition and gives me overall good health! It helps with all kind of weight issues (lose/gain/maintain) as well as to reshape your body with the main benefit of getting you healthy and good overall health and nutrition! What I use is in my profile; I am just sharing my personal experience!
Whatever you choose make sure it's right for you, and good to your body!
I love Herbalife products, they are really good for you and there is something for every one of all ages! I am not trying to solicit anyone just like to share good information and where I get all my health products; as I said, I take them personally I am just sharing my experience! Tell a parent to look at this with you, let them help you and be there for you!
Hope this helps a bit for you! Good luck to you in whatever you decide!
I wish you all the best! Good luck! :-D

Where can you buy the best three wheel low slung bike with several gears? I am looking for...?

causant
...one with a comfortable seat?
I would like to find one that is highly rated at a reasonable cost without all the hype.
Answer
The bike with the best reviews online is the Torker Tri-Star 3 speed. The 2002 model cost $ 459 .00. I do not know if that is assembled or not. The bike is featured on the Torker site at http://www. torkerusa .com/ tristar-red .html, and you can find a dealer through the site.

Pros: No pollution, exercise, puts life at a slower/more enjoyable pace. Baskets great for groceries, etc.
Cons: Balance different than a 2-wheeler. 30# of cargo, uphills get your heart rate up.
My experience is better than anything I could have imagined. The reason I bought my Torker is I wanted to minimize my driving and increase my cardio rate.I run my errands (grocery/bank/videos/hair & nails) plus get great exercise. I LOVE MY TORKER!! With the baskets I can take back and bring home whatever I need. You have to be careful of the balance - although it looks like it would not tip over - if one rear wheel goes down more than 8-10" it will fall over. The 3 speeds are all I need. It coasts wonderfully PLUS it is a great conversation starter!

My second choice would be Trail Mate of Sarasota, Florida, which has several adult trikes. Their EZ Roll Regal looks to be the best, with a truly comfortable WIDE seat. Best Bike Buys says it costs just over $400 unassembled (add $ 199 .00 if you want it fully assembled). Again, you can find a dealer from the site.

Trail Mates Desoto Classic is their most popular model and the lowest in price $345 unassembled, but goes back to the traditional bicycle seat.
The same site reviews the Trail Mate Joyrider, a step-through frame with a bucket seat that runs right around $500, again unassembled. It is funny looking but seems to do the job. The only problem is the seat but that can be solved.

Pros
The Trailmate Joyrdier is the Ultimate Low priced Rehabilitation Device !
Cons
Heaviness, creaking sounds, limited gears pop out with heavy workload, lousey seat for practical use.
The Bottom Line
This is the best low priced, stable base of support recumbent trike in the $400-$750 price range, as proven through my own use.
A wonderful aspect of this recumbent trike is that it is a sturdy workhorse, capable of being made more compact by simply pushing the handlebars down for storage and setting it on its rear 2 wheels with its nose into the air for storage in a standard coat closet! The biggest negative of the bike: It came equipped with a hard shell plastic butt bucket which made it impossible to use in any practical purpose. Child's play would be okay with the butt bucket, but I unbolted and threw away the butt bucket because it rubbed the skin off my spine in 5 minutes flat. I easily replaced it with a wonderful hinged boat seat which one may buy for about $40 at any marine supply store. I bought the plastic upholstered foam type which allows the back to fold down flat and has a snap where the clam shell effect can be used to keep the seat dry when you park it and leave it in the rain while doing your ambulatory tasks.
AND
Pros
Comfortable, smooth ride, great exercise!
Cons
May tip if turning too quickly and sharply.
The Bottom Line
The trike is absolutely worth the cost! It is fun, sturdy and extremely durable and useful.
The Joyrider is low to the ground and offers a bucket seat which can be adjusted to accommodate one's leg length and general comfort .One actually sits in, rather than on the seat.. .no balancing required! The frame is open on one side so the user may "walk in" rather than having to climb over the frame. The handlebars are a "lift out of the way" component. They then pull back and down over the lap after the rider has been seated. Unlike other trikes, the Joyrider has a "chopper" look with two large wheels in the back and a smaller one in front...(the other children in the neighborhood always tell my son how cool his bike is!)The brake is hand operated and can easily be changed from the right to the left hand grip.
