I've been using stationary exercise bikes for years at the gym, mostly for cardio and warmup, but lately I've been thinking of switching to recumbent bikes. I've heard that they are better for your back muscles and spine. Is this true?

Answer
Yes, recumbent bikes are better for your back and actually promote back health. Like another person stated, you will experience joint, back and buttock pain with stationary/upright bikes. Recumbent bikes take the pressure off your back by not forcing the curvature of your spine into an unnatural position.

If you have any back problems, definitely go with a recumbent bike! If you'd like to see which bikes are the best right now, check out http://recumbentexercisebikesreviews.net/

Hope this helps!
