i was at the gym yesterday and going again tomorrow, i was using a recumbent bike most of the time..whats the difference between an exercise bike and a recumbent bike?? i know the seats are different and a recumbent one has more back support or something but is there a difference in the end result after using it??
which one is better??
..any other info would help too :D

It's like difference between a car and a Prius. A recumbent is a format of bike (Prius), while and exercise bike is the purpose (car). In other words and exercise bike is ANY form of bike used for exercise in a fixed position, while a recumbent is the specific form of exercise bike.
In practice with a recumbent the rider is semi-reclining with back supported and legs extending in front to pedal. On an upright exercise bike you are sitting on a saddle more or less like a "normal" bike with pedals below you. The exercise is more or less the same (rotate pedals against a resistance) but the exact ways in which the exercise benefits you differ slightly because the muscles are used in slightly different ways. The recumbent form is somewhat easier on people with back problems (and the flat seat is possibly more comfortable.
Which is 'better' really depends on the person using it. In my view, it's whichever encourages the user to spend more time on the bike using it. Personally I prefer to use my regular bike outside in all but the worst weather ... and mounted on a resistance trainer if that isn't feasible.

I am in the market for home exercise equipment to shed some below the waist pounds, butt and thighs! I'm 5ft, and it's hard to lose it where you want to!
Any experts out there - is this a good idea for what I'm looking for, to lose weight all over, or will I only be getting a cardiac workout and make my thighs bigger?
A local physical trainer said any 'sweating' you do burns calories, and with dieting, so that's all you need to worry about to lose weight all over.
I thought you had to exercise the whole package! What do ya'll think?
I'm looking at recombant bicycles, but haven't been able to find out which brand is best, which works better, is more comfortable, where to buy for best prices, and takes up less room,etc.
Or any suggestions on one piece of home equipment for a busy mom of two young ones that can be left in the family room but maybe camoflauged by a screen, etc.?
