Answer
It's true about Labs having a lot of energy but, they can be indoor dogs. You just have to take part in their exercise routine. You have to be able to devote YOUR time and YOUR energy in the health of your best friend. Consider it incentive to get out and walk/run off some of your thanksgiving/christmas food.

I've trained my Lab/Heeler mix to run with me while I ride my bicycle. I have a reel-in/reel-out leash that serves it's purpose very well. He loves going on run/rides with me. He gets really excited when he see his leash and me getting out my GIANT mtn. bike. Just make sure you're riding in a safe area without a lot of traffic.

I'm lucky. I have a lot of walking/biking paths in the Kansas side of Kansas city where I live. Great places to take him out and exercise him. Another great way to exercise and socialize your dog is off-leash dog parks. You can just let them run and run and play with other dogs.

The bottom line is... The more exercise your dog is, the more well-behaved he will be and the more adapt he will be at being an indoor dog.

kansas city fitness and bike trails?

JP

i am wondering if anyone knows if there are any fitness trails (jogging tracks with exercise stations placed every so ofter),in the KC area. Also, can anyone suggest good mountain biking trails in KC or within an hour drive. thanks

Answer
Parts of the Indian Creek Bike and Hike Trial has exercise station on it. You can get on this trail at numerous locations and it goes thru parts of Johnson County. This web site http://www.jcprd.com/parks_facilities/trailguide.cfm shows most of the trails in Johnson County and where you can pick up a map or download it from the web. If you are from the northland you might try asking at a location bike shop at at your local Parks and Rec Department. Hope this helps....
